Laser Product Engineer
Job Description
The Product Engineer will work with our design and engineering teams to determine optimal assembly, test and manufacturing procedures of our direct diode laser systems. Develop performance/specifications/cost metrics for procurement and work closely with vendors on negotiating specs to meet cost requirements and perform build versus buy analysis. Develop and implement processes and procedures to reduce touch time, manufacturing cost and improve production yield and establishing manufacturing yield models. Define and create work instructions and maintain documentation of assembly and test procedures within quality system. Maintain detailed BoMs and BoM cost.
Assist the reliability team in identifying root cause failures and implement appropriate corrective actions and review production data (e.g., yield, cycle time, DL hours, BOM cost) across entire manufacturing process to facilitate continual improvement plans.
Experience and Education
BS or MS in Physics, Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline with 5-7 years of commercial/industrial experience in high power diode laser industry. The preferred candidate will have specific experience in manufacturing complex electro-opto-mechanical systems with intimate knowledge of optical materials, coatings, diode lasers and opto-mechanics, opto-mechanical assembly and laser alignment. Experience in small to medium volume manufacturing processes is desirable including Six Sigma, lean manufacturing, and statistical process control (SPC).
The preferred candidates will be highly motivated with an excellent track record of performance and innovation in photonics as well as bring their passion about developing and producing the best in class semiconductor lasers products. Attention to detail and an ability to absorb and assimilate information rapidly, with excellent communication, collaboration and organizational skills.

R&D Laser Scientist
Job Description
The R&D Laser Scientist will be involved with performing research and development of high power direct diode laser technology, external cavity resonator design and in particular TDI’s proprietary wavelength beam combining (WBC) architectures. Responsibilities include design, modeling, tolerance analysis, construction, characterization, and analysis of performance versus model of such laser systems. Related responsibilities include generating specification documents and working with and qualifying vendors for optical components and diode lasers necessary to achieve overall system specification.
Experience and Education
MS or PhD in Physics, Optics, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent with concentration in Lasers, and minimum of two years’ experience post-doctoral training preferred with emphasis in modeling fiber lasers, solid-state lasers, semiconductor lasers, laser-based optical subsystems, laser stabilization, high-power lasers, and optical engineering. Expertize in making accurate optical measurements. Knowledge of optical coatings, physical optics such as micro-lens arrays, diffraction gratings in high power environment will be necessary. Ability and desire to work independently or as a part of a group and efficiently in a highly-intellectual and fast-paced research and development environment.

Optical Engineer
Job Description
The Optical Engineer will be responsible for optical design, tolerance analysis, key metric performance evaluation and trade-off, ghost and stray light analysis of multi-kW diode laser system. Additionally, the Optical Engineer will design optical assembly for efficient and reliable coupling of multi-kW diode lasers into fiber, hands-on prototyping of high brightness diode laser products and assembly process development and develop a wide variety of optical test and characterization processes for precision micro optical alignments.
Experience and Education
The ideal candidate must have a BS, MS preferred in Optical Engineering or Laser Physics with minimum five years optical design experience using Zemax related to laser optics with emphasis on high power laser stem. Candidate must possess the ability to complete projects through conceptual design, optical design, procurement, assembly and testing. Knowledgeable experience in high power external cavity diode lasers and a working knowledge of the design of optical systems to couple single mode and multi-mode diode laser beam into fiber, high power diode laser beam shaping and symmetrization and a working knowledge of high power optical material and coating. Design for manufacturing and industrial experience is desired. Government proposal writing experience a plus.

Laser Engineer
Job Description
The Laser Engineer will work with our senior engineers to develop our laser technology and laser systems and will assist in setting up and completing experiments on an optical bench, including optical alignment, optical and electrical assembly and testing, gathering and presentation of experimental data as related to laser design and manufacturing.
Experience and Education
The ideal candidate should have BSEE, Masters or PhD with Major in Optics or Lasers and extensive background in lasers, fiber optics, and optical systems, two to three years experience in design, development and manufacturing of two or more of the following areas are preferred: diode pumped solid-state lasers, semiconductors lasers, laser-based optical subsystems, laser stabilization, high-power lasers, and optical engineering. Senior Opto-Mechanical Engineer
Job Description
The Senior Opto-Mechanical Engineer will lead the optical and mechanical design of TeraDiode’s product line of high power, high brightness direct-diode lasers. We seek a seasoned opto-mechanical engineer with experience in the design and development of high tolerance, complex opto-mechanical products which achieve medium to high volume levels. Experience with lasers of 200 W to 1 kW or more is a major plus.
Experience and Education
The successful candidate will have experience with some or all of the following: mounting of optical components, optical alignment, micron level tolerances, solid state, fiber or gas lasers, FEA, DFM, FMEA, kinematics, thermal modeling and fixture design.
The candidate should have a BS, MS preferred in EE, Physics, ME, Optoelectronics, Optics or Lasers and must be proficient in SolidWorks or an equivalent mechanical design software package. A minimum of 10 years industrial experience is preferred. Knowledge and experience developing a product incorporating design for manufacturability (DFM) is highly desirable.

Applications Engineer
Job Description
Our Applications Engineer will lead our activity in characterizing our high powers lasers for materials processing. The primary responsibility will be to design, source and build infrastructure for characterization and optimization of cutting and welding lasers developed by TeraDiode.
Experience and Education
Qualified candidates must have a BS, MS or PhD in Mechanical, Materials Engineering or Physics or equivalent and a minimum of three years’ experience with and understanding of the physics of laser cutting and welding processes. Intimate knowledge of impact of laser beam parameters on materials processing with capabilities of applying Design-of-Experiments concepts to develop robust evaluation plans. Knowledge of statistical techniques and models is required to analyze test data, experience with testing a wide range of materials from metals to plastics will be required as well as experience in documentation procedures. Solid communication and presentation skills as needed for working with customers and experience in managing a small team.

Reliability Engineer
Job Description
The Reliability and Component Engineer will be responsible for reliability and qualification of new and existing high-power laser products being developed at TeraDiode. The Reliability Engineer will conduct reliability verification and qualification of our lasers through component, sub-system and system levels, develop and implement methodologies and techniques to enhance product reliability and analyze test engineering design concepts of our electro and opto-mechanical products. Additionally, this engineer will be expected to build reliability into the designs by proposing improvements based on the analysis of test results and be responsible for qualification planning, device testing, data analysis, failure analysis, qualification and reliability documentation, supplier qualification, internal and external customer interfacing and work closely with the product development and engineering teams to provide strong reliability input during early design cycles.
Experience and Education
BS, MS or PhD in Electrical, Mechanical, Optical Engineering, Physics or equivalent with a minimum of four years’ experience in a similar role responsible for reliability and life estimation of electro-mechanical and/or electro-optical products. Knowledge and understanding of Physics-of-Failure concepts and ability to develop and implement accelerated tests to mitigate risks and qualify engineering designs during product development is required. Additionally, familiarity with using acceleration models for common failure modes in electro-optical products such as diode lasers to estimate field failure rates and knowledge of statistical techniques and FMEA models as to analyze test data and estimate product life cycle required.

Laser Manufacturing Engineer
Job Description
TeraDiode is looking for motivated and talented Laser Manufacturing Engineering candidates. The Manufacturing Engineer will work on manufacturing and assembly of direct diode laser systems. The candidate will have had experience with opto-mechanical assembly and laser alignment. Experience with solid state lasers and fiber lasers is essential. Optical assembly and manufacturing experience for lasers is required. Ability to use tools, electrical, troubleshooting, and field service engineering experience is desirable. Experience with manufacturing processes including Six Sigma, lean manufacturing, and statistical process control (SPC) is desirable.
